Det Norske Veritas is seeking an Environmental Permitting Project Manager to lead renewable energy projects in the U.S. This role involves preparing permit applications, conducting environmental studies, and engaging with stakeholders. The position is based in Oakbrook, IL, with a hybrid schedule of three days in the office. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least 5 years of experience in environmental permitting within the renewable energy sector.

At DNV, our culture is rooted in sustainability and inclusivity as we work towards deploying renewables to combat climate change. Our Environmental, Permitting and Sustainability (EPS) team is expanding, and we are searching for an experienced Environmental Permitting Project Manager to provide comprehensive permitting services across the United States. In this role, you will manage project development and environmental activities, including:
• Preparing local, state, and federal renewable energy permit applications.
• Conducting environmental and social impact studies.
• Facilitating stakeholder engagement and land use/zoning permits for renewable energy projects.

You will also lead proposal efforts and drive business development for wind, solar, battery storage, and hydrogen projects throughout the country, while assisting with project due diligence.

Your Contributions:
• Support site selection and characterization studies for renewable energy projects.
• Lead the submission of permit applications and the coordination of environmental fieldwork.
• Develop environmental reports, including critical issues analyses and impact assessments.
• Engage with regulatory agencies, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
• Establish strong relationships with regulatory agencies throughout the Midwest.
• Participate in business development and client relationship management.
• Contribute to thought leadership initiatives within the renewable energy sector.

This position is based at our DNV office in Oakbrook, IL, allowing for a dynamic hybrid working schedule, typically three days in the office or on-site with clients. Additional locations may include Madison, WI; Okemos, MI; Des Moines, IA; Cincinnati & Columbus, OH; and Nashville, TN.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, environmental science, or policy.
• Minimum of 5 years of environmental and/or permitting experience in the U.S.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental assessment frameworks related to renewable energy.
• Experience in engaging with regulatory agencies and various stakeholders.
• Strong project management and relationship-building skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in the renewable energy sector in the U.S. Midwest.
• Experience with conservation strategies and wildlife management plans.
• Proficiency in GIS as a tool for assessments.
• Understanding of wind, solar, and battery storage markets.
