Job Description

About the Environment Resource Center

The Associated Students Environmental Resource Center aims to make San Francisco State a more environmentally conscious campus. Through projects, policy reform, education, and community outreach, our team promotes sustainability and social justice. We facilitate waste diversion, provide resources on sustainability, educate students through events and workshops, and promote sustainable policies on campus. The SOL Patch Community Garden is a key component, fostering community, environmental education, and personal development among students.
Position

Details

The Environmental Outreach and Engagement Coordinator (EOEC) supports all ERC semester initiatives. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating meetings and events, outreach to campus organizations and the community, and managing interns. The Assistant Director will coordinate with other departments, programs, and student groups to promote sustainability on campus.
Essential

Job Duties
• Assist ERC leadership in facilitating initiatives for Sol Patch Garden, sustainability projects, and environmental justice movements.
• Attend bi-weekly meetings with AS Program Directors or as scheduled by the Director.
• Coordinate weekly staff meetings and track intern meetings for all ERC initiatives.
• Participate in bi-weekly Sustainability Assembly meetings with the ERC Student Director.
• Support partnership development with AS Programs, university departments, and local organizations such as Recology, SF Environment, and others.
• Assist in event planning, including catering, guest speakers, and event applications.
• Assist with hiring processes for ERC coordinator and internship roles.
• Coordinate with other departments and student groups to promote sustainability and social justice.
• Facilitate monthly AS Sustainability Assembly meetings.
• Work with the AS VP of Facilities & Services to prepare agenda items.
• Represent ERC at the Sustainability Committee.
• Monitor expenditures and assist in budget planning.
• Manage ERC communications, including email lists, volunteer attendance, and feedback forms.
• Support intern evaluations mid and end of semester.
• Oversee ERC social media and maintain the semester calendar.
• Contribute to the Annual ERC Report.
• Maintain relationships with vendors and campus staff to support gardening and waste management.Qualifications
• Must be a student enrolled in at least 6 units (undergrad) or 4 units (grad) at SFSU.
• Passion for or background in environmental sustainability, justice, and community organizing.
• Previous volunteer experience with ERC or environmental organizations is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Organizational skills, experience with calendars and agendas.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Ability to perform physical tasks related to waste audits and food rescue.
• Ability to work independently and with diverse groups.
