Job Description
Precision Castparts is seeking an Environmental Manager in Gardena, CA, responsible for developing and managing environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulations. Key duties include conducting audits, policy development, leading sustainability initiatives, waste management, and training employees. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in environmental management, strong technical knowledge, and a relevant degree. This position is not remote.
Position Summary
The Environmental Manager at SPS Technologies is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves overseeing environmental policies, monitoring facility operations, and leading sustainability initiatives. The Environmental Manager will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable practices, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all environmental operations comply with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and permits (e.g., EPA, OSHA, local environmental standards).Environmental Audits: Conduct internal audits and inspections of environmental programs and operations to maintain compliance and identify improvement areas.Policy Development: Develop, implement, and enforce environmental policies and procedures to promote safe and sustainable practices.Sustainability Initiatives: Lead initiatives to minimize waste, reduce emissions, conserve energy, and promote sustainability across all SPS facilities.Waste Management: Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management programs, including proper disposal, recycling, and handling.Environmental Reporting: Prepare and submit regulatory reports, permits, and compliance documentation to local, state, and federal agencies.Training & Education: Develop and conduct training programs to educate employees on environmental policies, best practices, and compliance requirements.Incident Management: Lead investigations for environmental incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.Project Management: Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and facility operations. Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Manage relationships with external environmental consultants, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
Required Skills
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of environmental regulations, such as EPA standards, OSHA guidelines, and environmental permitting requirements.Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis for tracking and improving environmental performance metrics.Project Management: Skilled in managing multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create training materials and report compliance data effectively.Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking skills for identifying risks and implementing sustainable environmental solutions.
Required Experience
Experience: 5-7 years in an environmental management role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with environmental management systems, sustainability practices, and regulatory reporting. Industry Knowledge: Background in manufacturing, aerospace, or a related field is preferred.
Level Of Education
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.Certifications: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), or similar certification preferred.Additional Skills: Knowledge of ISO 14001 or other environmental management systems standards.
For informational purposes only the range of pay for this role is $116,600 to $145,700US Dollar (USD)Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only this role is eligible to participate in the Companys Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Companys bonus multiple based on the Companys performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees and their families are eligible to participate in the company's medical dental vision and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Companys 401k plan.120
