Job Description

Boston Public Schools is seeking an Environmental Manager to promote sustainability through projects, educational campaigns, and partnerships. Responsibilities include coordinating environmental projects, developing sustainability guidelines, assessing school needs, and preparing reports. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability within the school district.
Key Responsibilities
• Foster a culture of sustainability across BPS through ongoing implementation of projects, initiatives, communications, and education.
• Lead district behavior change and educational campaigns for sustainability, energy, and environment, in partnership with other members of Facilities Management, BPS Academics, City of Boston Environment Department, Utility providers, and selected sustainability education partners.
• Coordinate significant construction and facilities-related environmental and sustainability projects, including design, specification writing, and public bidding.

The successful candidate will also provide guidance and expertise on BPS Green Schools Design Guidelines, develop sustainability specifications and goals, and assess school building needs and execute all necessary reports and filings. Additionally, they will monitor ongoing challenges and contribute to the development of project plans, read and interpret existing building plans, and prepare and maintain various narrative and statistical reports, presentations, records, correspondences, and files related to assigned projects.
