HRC Recruitment is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Manager in Strathaven, UK. The role involves leading sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and developing management systems. Environmental & Sustainability Manager
Location:South Lanarkshire
Ready to make a real impact? Were looking for an Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead the way in driving sustainability, compliance, and environmental excellence across our operations in our market leading rail consultancy business.
Reporting to the Compliance Director, youll shape and implement our environmental policies, ensuring we not only meet but exceed industry standards. From developing strategies to conducting audits and working with project teams, youll be at the forefront of delivering a greener, more sustainable future.
What Youll Be Doing
• Develop and maintain our Environmental Management System and sustainability procedures
• Ensure full compliance with regulations and Network Rail standards
• Advise project teams, ensuring best practices in sustainability and environmental management
• Drive business cases for energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives
• Conduct audits, site inspections, and environmental incident investigations
• Maintain accreditations (SSIP, RISQS, UVDB, CHAS, and more)
• Monitor legislation changes, ensuring were always ahead of the curve
What Youll Bring
• Degree in Environmental Science (or related field)
• Chartered IEMA (or equivalent) status
• ISO 14001 Internal Auditor experience
• Environmental Management Systems expertise
• Rail sector experience, including PTS certification
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental policy and regulatory frameworks
• The ability to influence, innovate, and drive change
