Dudek is hiring a mid-level Architectural Historian/Built Environment Specialist in Mission Viejo, CA. The role involves managing historic resource evaluations and technical documents in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and NHPA. Responsibilities include preparing surveys, evaluating resources, conducting fieldwork, and mentoring junior staff. A Master's degree and strong research and communication skills are required, with 4-8 years of experience preferred. The position is not fully remote.
About The Job

The role of a mid-level Architectural Historian/Built Environment Specialist on our cultural resources team involves managing and preparing historic resource evaluations and related technical documents in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and Section 106 of the NHPA.

This position can be based out of any of our Southern California offices, but the Pasadena area is preferred.

Responsibilities

<br>• Prepare historic resource surveys, evaluations, and related technical documents in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, Section 106 of the NHPA, and applicable local requirements.
• Evaluate historic resources in consideration of NRHP, CRHR, and local-level designation criteria and integrity requirements.
• Ability to research, develop, and write historic context statements.
• Conduct and delegate technical work to entry-level staff when appropriate.
• Conduct, organize, and lead built environment fieldwork efforts.
• Assist in assessing CEQA impacts/Section 106 effects on historical resources/historic properties.

Minimum Requirements

<br>• Master's degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or a related field.
• Strong writing and research skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team of cultural resources professionals.
• Experience conducting property-specific research.
• Familiarity with CHRIS records searches.

Preferred Requirements

<br>• Between 4 to 8 years of professional experience in architectural history, historic preservation, and regulatory compliance in California.
• Understanding Southern California's regional history.
