About the role

As the Environmental Health Trainee, you will, under the supervision of experienced officers, deliver basic non-regulatory and limited regulatory environmental health services to protect, promote, and prevent risks to the community arising from environmental health hazards that impact on the natural and built environment and human health.

About You

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

Ability to rapidly acquire a level of knowledge and skill to deliver routine environmental health services, particularly with respect to current and emerging issues.
Undertake training and ability to rapidly acquire a sound knowledge of the interpretation and enforcement of environmental health legislation and relevant state, national and international standards used in connection with environmental health practice in Queensland.
Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire to provide basic clinical advice on environmental health matters and ability to participate in a single-discipline or multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to self-manage work activities.

Mandatory Requirements

The successful applicant must be working towards an Environmental Health degree qualification that is recognised by Environmental Health Australia for practice as an Environmental Health Officer. Appointment to this position requires proof of enrolment.
It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment as required by HED 01/16 Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements/HR Policy B1 [measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough).
