Environmental Health Specialist

The Environmental Health Specialist at County of Monmouth is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental health standards, investigating incidents, and conducting inspections of facilities. They work closely with the NJDEP under the County Environmental Health Act. The position requires responding to complaints and being part of the Hazardous materials response team. This is a full-time role with a salary of $45K per year, and no specific degree is required.
Description Environmental Health Specialists (EHS) in Monmouth County work to ensure compliance with environmental health standards and investigate environmental incidents. They are partners of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) through a grant program called the County Environmental Health Act (CEHA). Pursuant to CEHA, Environmental Health Specialists respond to and investigate environmental incidents/complaints received and referred by the NJDEP along with complaints received directly into the office from concerned citizens of the county.

EHS also perform standard compliance inspections at various facilities to ensure operating permit compliance.
