Description
Job Summary: The EHS Specialist II is responsible for implementing the company’s environmental, health, and safety policies and monitoring regulatory requirements. They facilitate health and safety policies to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulatory agencies. This position will promote safety awareness and engagement to minimize work-related incidents and ensure safe working conditions.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Implements and maintains safety policies and procedures.
• Creates and delivers various training materials to employees regarding environmental, health & safety programs.
• Coordinates training with 3rd party training vendors and consultants.
• Ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State, Local, and industry standards and laws.
• Conducts facility inspections and audits relating to Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.
• Systematically recognizes and records hazards, then recommends corrective measures.
• Uses the EH&S platform to record observations and incidents daily.
• Assists in processing workers’ compensation claims as needed.
• Participates in incident investigations as needed.
• Maintains training documents as needed.
• Must be available to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours if needed (excluding PTO).
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in EH&S or a related field (biology, industrial hygiene, occupational health) and 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience combined with an EH&S certification such as a CSP, ASP, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Proven experience with workers’ compensation claims with an understanding of trend analysis.
• Broad knowledge of Federal, State, Local and industry standards regarding health and safety.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe acrobat.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:
• Ability to walk long distances during a work shift, bending, stooping or standing as necessary, and climbing stairs or using a ladder.
• Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some exposure to chemicals/fumes.
• Ability to respond to EH&S calls 24/7.
• Travel occasionally as needed.
• Familiarity with forklifts a plus
• Bilingual (any language) a plus
• Ability to sit or stand at a desk while performing tasks for long periods of time
