Responsibilities
• Promote a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment.

• Administer all environmental permitting and related documentation.

• Serve as liaison with governmental agencies and environmental representatives.

• Coordinate and maintain all regulatory permits and applications.

• Make recommendations for environmental quality improvement.

• Maintain responsibility for training and assessing systems for operations.

• Oversee all safety department areas of responsibility.

• Conduct safety training programs for plant personnel in compliance with regulations.

• Manage consultants for EH&S related activities and reports.
,
• Participate in regulatory forums and workshops as a company representative.
,
• Consult with departments for EH&S compliance on design and equipment proposals.
,
• Work with local government officials to maintain favorable corporate relations.
,
• Address plant Workers' compensation claims in a timely manner.
,
• Inspect and tour facilities to detect EH&S non-compliance or hazards.
,
• Accompany third-party representatives on plant inspections and ensure corrective actions are taken.
,
• Oversee plant safety inspection programs and ensure timely corrections of hazards.
,
• Coordinate and participate in Root Cause Analysis for incidents and property damage.
,
• Compile and submit compliance and monitoring reports required by regulatory agencies.
,
• Develop safety-related policies and procedures aligned with company philosophy.
,
• Ensure contractor safety programs meet regulatory and company standards.
,
• Administer effective safety orientation and training for employees.
,
• Conduct safety analyses on job functions to reduce risks.
,
• Investigate environmental issues thoroughly and recommend corrective actions.
,
• Oversee plant environmental inspection programs to ensure compliance.
,
• Provide effective environmental awareness training for plant personnel.
,
• Interface with regulatory agencies for site audits and permit negotiations.
,
• Conduct economic feasibility studies for EHS related projects.
,
• Recommend equipment types and specifications to eliminate environmental hazards.
,
• Ensure new process equipment meets engineering specifications.
,
• Field and respond to neighborhood concerns regarding environmental issues.
,
• Act as a resource and champion for continuous improvement activities.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

• 8-10 years of related experience in a plant setting.

• Experience with environmental and safety regulations.

• Proven track record of collaborating to implement improvements and reduce risk.

• Certification as MSHA Part 48/46 Trainer is desired.

• Knowledge of system building and design.

• Effective communication skills and ability to motivate others.

• Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees and external individuals.

• Demonstrated willingness to challenge conventional ideas and be flexible.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
