Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Environmental Health Manager, implements, manages and promotes industrial hygiene and environmental protection programs.

This position is not eligible for remote work. It is an in-person on campus position.

Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate all environmental protection programs including stormwater, wastewater, oil pollution prevention and air pollution
• Oversee asbestos, lead and other remediation programs
• Oversees industrial hygiene programs
• Manages the respiratory protection program
• Coordinates exposure monitoring
• Provide and document training
• Conduct and facilitate environmental inspections
• Prepare professional reports with findings and corrective actions
• Interpret technical data and communicate technical information to non-technical individuals in a meaningful way
• Utilize continuous improvement principles in all EHSS responsibilities
• Cultivate a positive culture of safety by role modeling safe behavior and a demonstrated commitment to safety
• Respond to off-hours emergencies

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in science or a relevant field with 5 years of experience in environmental health or industrial hygiene
• In lieu of a bachelor's degree, at least 15 years of training and experience in environmental health and safety programs
• Ability to interpret laws and regulations to assist with University compliance
• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in unusual or new situations
• Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
• Successful candidate must be able to wear an air-purifying respirator
• Successful candidate must be available to respond to after-hours emergency response
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in science or a related field
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
• Prior experience in a college or university setting
