Job Description
Green Humanity Recruitment seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in Meridian, MS. The role involves developing safety programs, conducting audits, and providing training to ensure a compliant workplace. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree, 5-7 years of experience in employee health and safety, and OSHA certification. The position requires local travel up to 50% and entails working in a manufacturing environment.
Purpose:
To ensure the organization maintains a safe, compliant, and health-conscious workplace by implementing, monitoring, and improving safety programs, conducting training, performing audits, and fostering a proactive safety culture aligned with company values and legal requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
· Develop and implement safety programs and procedures in compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
· Conduct and document safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
· Provide comprehensive safety training for employees, including onboarding and ongoing development.
· Collaborate with the EHS Manager and HR to enhance safety onboarding processes.
· Monitor and enforce adherence to safety regulations and preventative measures.
· Evaluate health and safety practices to identify areas for improvement and align with legal guidelines.
· Lead incident prevention initiatives and provide recommendations for mitigating risks.
· Recruit, train, and oversee safety committee team members.
· Prepare and present detailed reports on incidents, safety violations, and recommendations.
· Ensure workplace safety inspections are conducted regularly and corrective actions are taken.
· Protect employee health information confidentiality while maintaining compliance with standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
· Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.
· 5-7 years of experience in employee health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
· OSHA 30-hour certification (minimum) is required.
· CPR/AED/First Aid certification is preferred.
· Proven experience in risk assessment and implementing safety programs.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to train and engage employees at all organizational levels.
· Familiarity with administrative policies and safety-related legal guidelines.
Special Features:
· Ability to travel up to 50%, primarily locally between plant locations.
· Valid Driver’s License required.
· Able to walk, stand, sit long periods of time.
· Able to work in manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust and extreme weather conditions.
· Able to pass pre-employment assessments and criminal background check.

· Increased employee engagement in safety programs and committee activities.
· Successful implementation and compliance with updated safety programs and regulations.
