Job Description
Compass Pointe Consulting is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for a 30-day full-time onsite contract in Lake Mary, FL, to support FEMA disaster relief operations after Hurricane Helene. The role involves evaluating facilities for safety compliance, working closely with Safety Officers, and ensuring the safety of personnel and visitors. Candidates should have relevant degrees, experience in industrial hygiene, and knowledge of OSHA regulations.
About the position
The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will support FEMA disaster relief operations in response to Hurricane Helene. This role involves a 30-day full-time onsite contract, primarily focused on evaluating facilities for safety and health compliance before they can be reoccupied. The specialist will work closely with Safety Officers to ensure the safety of personnel and visitors at various field locations.
Responsibilities
• Utilize trained Safety and Health Specialists/Managers or Industrial Hygienists to inspect facilities and write reports based on findings.

• Work under the direction of the client Disaster Safety Officer at field locations including Joint Field Offices, Area Field Offices, Disaster Recovery Centers, and other locations to support Hurricane Helene.

• Ensure the safety and health of Client personnel, visitors, and contractors at client-managed facilities, and personnel responding to field offices under the Stafford Act.
Requirements
• AS/BS degree from an accredited university in engineering, environmental science, occupational safety, or a related field.
,
• 3 years of experience in performing industrial hygiene and/or environmental health and safety consulting.
,
• Knowledge of inspecting and resolving office ergonomics, electrical, chemical (Hazcom), life safety, and related issues.

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
,
• Experience developing reports with recommendations based on OSHA regulations.
,
• Experience developing job hazard analysis for high/medium hazard work tasks.
,
• Experience developing Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs).
,
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
,
• Must be a US Citizen.
,
• Ability to pass a background check (civil, criminal, bankrupt, credit, etc.).
,
• Military background would be a plus.
,
• Able to deploy quickly and commit to at least a month onsite.
