About the position
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Project Manager is responsible for managing resources, planning, and implementing various environmental, health, and safety projects to meet the organization's needs in a timely manner and within budget. This role involves overseeing multiple complex projects simultaneously while ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety rules and regulations. The EH&S Project Manager serves as a subject matter expert in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance, applying industry best practices to enhance project outcomes. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to mentor team members and interns, fostering a collaborative work environment across all departments within the Sewer District. In this role, the Project Manager will develop and manage the scopes of each assigned project, critically examining and evaluating data, current procedures, and processes to improve compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This includes managing the planning and implementation of EH&S projects by coordinating resources and cross-functional teams, including outside consultants. The Project Manager will also be responsible for procurement and administration of outside professional consultants and vendors, developing Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and reviewing proposals to recommend contract awards. The position requires strong analytical skills to maintain the integrity, timelines, and quality assurance of current projects. The Project Manager will research, analyze, and evaluate possible solutions to identified problems, presenting these solutions for discussion to obtain agreement. Building and maintaining good working relationships across all Sewer District departments is essential, as is providing subject matter expertise and guidance to both internal and external customers. The role also involves mentoring EH&S team members and interns, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to handle the demands of their projects.
Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and evaluate possible solutions to identified problems and present solutions for discussion.

• Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to internal and external customers.

• Mentor EH&S team members and interns.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.

• Seven (7) years of direct project management work experience in a lead role, including the use of project management tools and administration of professional services contracts.

• Experience in the wastewater and/or stormwater industry is required.

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety requirements and regulations.

• Effective written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities.

• Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and tackle emergencies and difficult situations.

• Negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
