Job Description
Elias Associates is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager for their manufacturing facility in Jackson, MS. The role involves managing EHS programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, leading safety initiatives, conducting audits, and overseeing training for approximately 500 employees. The EHS Manager will also coordinate safety councils, maintain records, manage Workers Compensation cases, and benchmark plant performance against industry standards.
About the position
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will play a crucial role in managing the EHS program for a global manufacturing company located in Jackson, TN. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation and coordination of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies. The EHS Manager will lead all safety improvement initiatives within the facility, which employs approximately 500 individuals, aligning with the company's safety mission, policies, and values. In this role, the EHS Manager will develop, implement, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures that adhere to corporate standards. This includes conducting regular audits to ensure that all health and safety standards are met and that all personnel receive the necessary training. The EHS Manager will serve as a role model for safe practices and behaviors within the workplace. The position also involves taking a leadership role in maintaining a robust environmental, health, and safety training program. The EHS Manager will coordinate and lead the Leadership Safety Council, which is responsible for establishing and directing safety programs and activities. Additionally, the EHS Manager will participate in and lead employee improvement teams focused on enhancing safety, housekeeping, and waste/cost reduction, while promoting active employee participation in these initiatives. Accurate and complete maintenance of Environmental, Health, and Safety records is essential, in accordance with governing regulations and company policies. The EHS Manager will also oversee the case management of Workers Compensation cases, collaborating closely with insurance providers and adjustors to ensure a timely and safe return to work for injured employees. Furthermore, the EHS Manager will measure plant performance, benchmarking against best-in-class manufacturing standards, and will create plans to improve overall performance. Conducting EHS program training for all employees and contractors is also a key responsibility of this role.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement and manage safety programs, policies and procedures in accordance with company corporate standards.

• Ensure all health and safety standards are met by conducting frequent audits and ensuring all personnel are trained.

• Assume a leadership role to maintain a vibrant environmental, health and safety training program.

• Coordinate and lead the Leadership Safety Council to establish and direct safety programs and activities.

• Participate and lead employee improvement teams to emphasize safety, housekeeping, and waste/cost reduction; promote programs and encourage employee participation.

• Maintain accurate and complete Environmental, Health and Safety records in accordance with governing regulations and company policies.

• Oversee case management of Workers Compensation cases, working closely with insurance providers and adjustors.

• Measure Plant performance, benchmarking against best in class manufacturing and leadership role to create plans to improve performance.

• Conduct EHS program training for all employees and contractors.
Requirements
• BS Degree in Occupational Safety preferred.
,
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
,
• 5+ years Safety Experience in an industrial setting.
,
• Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
