Environmental Health and Safety Manager

The location in Calhoun, TN, is seeking talent to fill the position of Environmental Health and Safety Manager. This job is salaried exempt.

Requirements

You will assume the following responsibilities:
• Develop and implement health safety and environmental strategies, action plans, training programs, procedures, and support tools.
• Promote and develop safe attitudes and behaviors that aid in protecting the people and environment.
• Ensure application of and compliance with EHS policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EH&S laws and regulations.
• Act as a positive change agent and beacon of progressive safety posture.
• Coordinate and lead investigations and event analysis including inspections, audits, and investigatory committees.
• Act as coach in developing the skills, vision, and safety forward managerial capabilities of the leadership team of the Calhoun mill.
• Stay up to date with regulatory changes impacting the business operations.
• Ensure compliance and renewal of any permits, licenses, and certifications required by the site for lawful operation.
• Act as local representative for interactions with governmental bodies such as OSHA and the EPA.
• Act as a driver of continuous improvement for the environmental, health, and safety tools and practices of the local site ensuring a positive and impactful posture for the location.

The ideal profile
• Undergraduate degree in related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Refusal to compromise on the moral discipline required to be a safety beacon.
• Significant level of integrity, self-discipline, teamwork, and ethics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive attitude and ability to find and implement new solutions and identify problems before they become significant.
• Ability to self-manage and work in an autonomous nature.
• Significant understanding of the laws and regulations governing our health, safety, and environmental impact.
