About the position
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Director at Northern New Mexico Integrated Security, LLC, a subsidiary of Constellis, is responsible for providing effective leadership in the areas of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H). This role is pivotal in implementing strategic processes aimed at risk mitigation and injury prevention, ensuring that safety becomes an integral part of the company culture and daily operations. The EHS Director will oversee the ES&H Division, which encompasses Environmental, Safety and Health, Range Operations & Safety, and the Physical Fitness Program. This position requires a strong commitment to compliance with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Federal, and state regulations, ensuring that all procedures align with these standards. The director will lead the Hazard Analysis program, implementing effective risk mitigation measures through a comprehensive Hazard Identification and Mitigation Plan (HIMP). This role involves developing, evaluating, and directing ES&H policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. The EHS Director will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of risk mitigation initiatives and assisting line managers in developing measures for process improvements. A key aspect of this position is to ensure proper investigation and reporting of ES&H incidents, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining close coordination with other company divisions and oversight personnel from LANL and DOE. This position is not remote and requires work to be performed onsite, emphasizing the importance of hands-on leadership in managing the ES&H functions effectively. The EHS Director will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and compliance within the organization, ensuring that all employees are trained and equipped to adhere to safety standards and practices.
Responsibilities
• Manage the ES&H, Range Operations & Safety, and Physical Fitness departments.
,
• Lead the Hazard Analysis program and implement risk mitigation measures.
,
• Integrate ES&H requirements into operational and administrative functions.
,
• Develop and direct ES&H policies, programs, and procedures for compliance.
,
• Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of risk mitigation initiatives to line managers.
,
• Assist line managers in developing measures of effectiveness and process improvements.
,
• Investigate and report ES&H incidents and injuries in a timely manner.
,
• Implement corrective actions and develop training based on lessons learned.
,
• Coordinate closely with other divisions and LANL/DOE oversight personnel.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Health, or related field or equivalent experience.
,
• Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in Safety Engineering, Security, or related fields.
,
• Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
,
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q level security clearance.
,
• Knowledge of Federal and State Laws and Regulations, DOE Orders, and LANL policies.
,
• Proficiency in business strategic planning methods.
,
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
,
• Ability to manage a multi-faceted department with diverse customer needs.
,
• Statistical and analytical skills for effective problem-solving.
,
• Intermediate-level computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice-to-haves
• Professional Certifications in a related field.

• Knowledge of the prevailing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

• Experience with Protective Force and firearms safety operations.

• Experience in ES&H programs with DOE, DOD, law enforcement, or fire departments.
