Job Description
Weston Solutions is seeking an Environmental Field Technician for onsite work at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM. The role involves managing environmental compliance related to hazardous and solid waste, including inspections, spill response, and waste transportation. Candidates should have a relevant degree and pass a background check. This full-time position requires daily fieldwork and is not eligible for remote work.
Weston Solutions is hiring an Environmental Technician to support Environmental Services at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM. The Environmental Technician plays an essential role in managing environmental compliance related to hazardous and solid waste at WSMR. The Environmental Technician will join a team of high-performing environmental specialists who serve the mission at WSMR. This is a hands-on position requiring daily onsite field work and is not eligible for telecommuting.
WSMR is located in southern New Mexico and encompasses approximately 2.2 million acres. WSMR is 30 miles east of Las Cruces, NM, and 45 miles north of El Paso, Texas. The primary area of performance shall be within the designated boundaries of WSMR. However, performance may be required in the WSMR Northern Call-up area, Western Call-up area, to include WSMR activities off range in southern New Mexico such as National Forest lands and/or Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands, Fort Wingate, NM, Green River, UT, and other off-range sites in New Mexico, Utah and Idaho. Temporary Duty (TDY) is a requirement on this contract to provide support at various locations for the WSMR mission.
Assist with the following
• Onsite Pick-up and Inspection for RCRA Satellite Accumulation Points (SAP)
• Onsite weekly inspection of 90-day yard and daily management of the 90-day hazardous waste facility due to SAP pick-ups or shop clean out
• Onsite Rodent Decontamination
• Onsite Spill Response
• Onsite sampling and waste transportation per EPA and State of NM requirements
• Onsite universal waste and used oil transportation
• Other field support as needed
Job requirements
• 2080 hours
• 40-hour OSHA (Weston will provide training and annual refreshers)
• Driver’s license
• Medical monitoring
• Ability to pass background check
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred candidates will have:
• A 2-year or 4-year degree in environmental science or a related field
• Experience using GPS and GIS technologies
