Job Description

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Engineer for their Water Services Group in Fairfax, VA. The role involves designing and maintaining water management infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with clients. Candidates should have a relevant degree, a PE license, and at least 7 years of experience. While the position is primarily based in Virginia, hybrid work options may be available.

Main responsibilities include:

Under limited supervision, develop engineering designs for complex water and wastewater treatment facilities, including distribution and sewer systems, pipelines, and pump stations to meet client requirements.Review draft designs and reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while adhering to firm policies and practices.Conduct site evaluations to align designs with client and local needs.Contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management by creating technical documentation, white papers, and special case studies.Collaborate with sales teams to draft proposals in response to client requests, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and best practices.Engage with clients to assess their design needs and attend industry conferences to enhance visibility and network within the field.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff, utilizing your strong communication skills.Lead tasks on water and wastewater treatment projects, leveraging your knowledge in process mechanics and hydraulics.We seek candidates who are eager to learn and grow with the firm. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.Professional Engineering (PE) license.7 years of relevant experience.Domestic and/or international travel may be required, based on project needs.Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.This position is located in Virginia - Fairfax.
