Our OpportunityWe are currently seeking Engineering Candidates with Expertise in Hydraulics and Hydrology for our Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice in Pasadena, CA. Other locations may also be considered. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide high-level scientific support for projects centering on the evaluation of flooding, geomorphology, water resources and water quality, contaminant transport and fate, and evaluation of the impacts of climate change. The ideal candidate should be willing to expand their area of expertise into emerging environmental issues, including climate change impacts on water supply and environmental quality, evolving policy related to water quality and waste management, and contaminants of emerging concern.
You will be responsible forExamining surface water hydrology, flooding, and geomorphologyAnalyzing the impacts of climate change on hydrology (floods, droughts, snowpack, and water supply impacts)Synthesizing technical information and applying critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentationsWorking cooperatively on projects with other Exponent practices and interdisciplinary groups as appropriateYou will have the following skills and qualificationsPh.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Limnology, Water Resources, or similar disciplineRegistered Professional Engineer; (Candidates with FE and ability to soon obtain a PE license will also be considered)Experience with common surface water modeling and GIS tools is desired (1-D and 2-D HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, FLO-2D, computational fluid dynamics models such as Delft-3D, etc.)Experience modeling chemical fate and transport is a plusExpertise in large dataset visualizationExcellent communication, organization, and writing skillsMust be detail-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, and manage time effectivelyStrong ability to prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlinesStrong commitment to personal and professional developmentPresently legally authorized to work in the United States. Compensation & BenefitsOur consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have opportunities for future success and career growth. At the Manager level and above, total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
Salary Range: USD $110,000.00 - USD $131,000.00 /Yr.
