Job Description

Nuclear Fuel Services is seeking an Environmental Engineer in Idaho Falls, ID. About the position

As an Environmental Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our environmental engineering and waste management programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of waste characterization, packaging, storage, and disposition, as well as waste minimization and pollution prevention strategies. You will be responsible for compliance with various regulations including RCRA, TSCA, CAA, CWA, NESHAPS, NEPA, CERCLA, and DOT regulations, along with the necessary procedures, documentation, and recordkeeping. Your specific duties will include preparing sampling and analysis plans in accordance with SW-846 guidelines, interpreting laboratory analytical data, and characterizing materials for disposal in compliance with RCRA and TSCA requirements. You will ensure that work documents specify compliant characterization, management, packaging, and disposition instructions for various types of waste, including PCB, hazardous, low-level radioactive, low-level mixed, asbestos, industrial, and universal wastes. Additionally, you will interface with clients to ensure that BWXT is meeting environmental and waste management objectives, and you will develop solutions to technical issues associated with environmental engineering and waste management. This role requires a bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience, along with strong teamwork and communication skills. You must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship and be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance. Preferred qualifications include a working knowledge of RCRA and TSCA regulations and a current DOE security clearance.
