Responsibilities
• Administering education and outreach programs and events.
,
• Planning and conducting public programs for groups such as Scout troops and community groups.
,
• Coordinating major events at the Onondaga Lake Visitor Center.
,
• Assisting with programming for historically underserved and non-traditional audiences.
,
• Assisting in the general operations of the Onondaga Lake Visitor Center.
,
• Offering programming at Conservation Field Days.
,
• Developing local partnerships to expand OLVC use.
,
• Partnering with DEC programs to highlight agency priorities.
,
• Attending career days, fairs, and festivals to promote outdoor recreation and DEC messages.
,
• Training and supporting educators in environmental literacy.
,
• Conducting presentations during seasonal teacher institutes and workshops.
,
• Conducting educator workshops in Projects WILD, WET, and Learning Tree.
,
• Assisting with training, mentoring, and evaluating local university interns.

Requirements
• Four years of experience in environmental conservation in a professional or technical capacity or professional teaching of environmental education.

• One year of experience teaching about or interpreting the natural world.
,
• An associate degree in a related field can substitute for two years of experience.
,
• A bachelor's degree in a related field can substitute for four years of experience.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience with public speaking and community engagement.

• Knowledge of environmental conservation practices and policies.

• Familiarity with educational programming for diverse audiences.
