The Great Basin Institute seeks an Environmental Education Program Coordinator in Reno, NV. The role involves planning and teaching outdoor STEM education programs for children at Galena Creek Park. Description
The role involves assisting in the planning, implementation, and teaching of the Great Basin Institute at Galena Environmental Science Education Field Study Programs. This includes engaging children through theme-based activities focused on the unique natural settings of Galena Creek Park and the Sierra Nevada region. Topics such as Animals, Plants, Water, and Ecosystems allow for outdoor discovery-based STEM education.
You will help implement summer camps and school residential field studies to ensure the success and safety of the programs, which include hands-on games, hikes, educational activities, and team-building exercises. Staff and students will stay in the beautiful WeChMe Lodge for residential summer camp and varying lengths of time for field studies.

Responsibilities
• Assist with the planning and implementation of educational programs
• Coordinate and train Educators, Counselors, and Counselors-in-Training
• Ensure the success and safety of camp and field study programs
• Deliver environmental education curriculum in the field and classroom
• Enforce camp policies and procedures
• Manage registration processes and logistics related to camp
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Previous experience or coursework in environmental education, teaching, or related fields is preferred
• Proven ability to work with children and facilitate educational activities
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Education Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Coursework in education, environmental sciences, or related field preferred
Education Requirements Credential Category
• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant coursework can enhance candidacy
Experience Requirements
• Experience working with children in an educational or outdoor setting is preferred
• Previous camp counselor or teaching experience is a plus
