The City and County of San Francisco is hiring an Environmental Education Program Assistant Coordinator to support K-12 environmental education. Responsibilities include coordinating programs, developing curricula, and maintaining partnerships with schools. This hybrid position allows for up to two days of remote work. The Environmental Education Program Assistant Coordinator will support environmental education specifically to Youth from all San Francisco K-12 schools. The 5638 will be responsible for overseeing scheduling activities of school programming and co-leading strategies in developing new partnerships and maintaining existing partnerships with schools. The Environmental Education Program Assistant Coordinator will also participate in the zero waste (ZW) collaborative efforts with San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) Sustainability office and Recology to serve schools. This role will not involve supervision but will serve as a leader for other educators in teaching responsibilities, pedagogies, and curriculum updates. There will be opportunities to mentor high school interns.

Job Duties

• Coordinate, implement, and evaluate initiatives that increase participation in environmental practices and programs.
• Develop and deliver educational programs, curricula, and communications materials targeted to San Francisco students, school staff, and principals to increase participation in environmental education programs.
• Perform regular research and critical analysis of all environmental education efforts.
• Coordinate school education and other environmental education projects, and field trips
• Schedule the field trip program
• Bus invoices/payments
• Schedule all presentations
• Lead San Francisco youth extracurricular-participation in the SF Climate Action Plan
• Maintain working partnerships with network of environmental education organizations, local non-profits, city agencies, and school district administrators.
• Follow City and Department procedures
• Perform other projects and duties as assigned
