About the position

The Environmental Education Assistant (Seasonal) position is designed to support the outreach program of the Division of Lands and Forests within the Department of Environmental Conservation. The role focuses on educating the public about environmental issues, including invasive species, forest health, and sustainable forestry, while promoting the use and protection of New York's natural resources. This is a temporary, full-time position that requires effective communication and organizational skills to manage outreach efforts and respond to public inquiries.

Responsibilities
• Responding to public requests for information via calls, social media, and emails.

• Assisting with the development of outreach materials such as kiosks, print products, public newsletters, and social media content.

• Maintaining an inventory of outreach materials.

• Mailing outreach materials to the public.

• Tracking outreach metrics and project timelines.

Requirements
• One year of experience in environmental education programs; or one year of college study with specialization in natural science, natural resources, or environmental education.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
