Job Description

Climate Analytics Inc. is seeking an Environmental Consultant (Analyst) to analyze and advise on climate and energy policies in Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Responsibilities include preparing reports, monitoring data, and providing policy recommendations. Candidates should have a Master's degree in a related field, four years of experience in climate policy research, and strong quantitative skills. The position is remote and offers 29 days of paid annual leave.
Job description
• Analysing and advising on policies related to climate and energy systems in Australia and Asia-Pacific countries to support the design, implementation, and enhancement of environmental operations and programs.
• Preparing technical reports and policy briefs that evaluate climate and energy policies, including providing expert advice in response to media and stakeholder inquiries.
• Monitoring, interpreting, and assessing environmental and climate-related data, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and projections at both national and sub-national levels.
• Collecting and evaluating environmental market data to inform policy development and program implementation.
• Examining the interrelationships between climate, energy, and environmental policy, providing integrated policy recommendations.
• Applying and enhancing energy-environment system modelling tools to inform the development of sustainable, 1.5°C-aligned decarbonisation strategies at regional and national levels.
• Assessing the environmental policy implications of data from energy system modelling and contributing to data-driven environmental planning.
• Supporting the development of environmental decision-support tools by contributing relevant data, contextual analysis, and policy scenarios.
• Conducting research into best practice environmental and climate governance, and developing evidence-based policy advice and strategic recommendations.
• Assisting in the preparation of proposals for environmental programs and policy advisory services.
Your profile
Essential criteria
• Master’s degree in climate economics, climate policy, energy studies, or related field. Comparable experience will be considered.
• Minimum of four years of experience in climate mitigation policy research.
• Excellent quantitative skills; and in particular high-level Excel skills.
• Foundational understanding of energy system modelling and scenario analysis.
• Knowledge/experience of energy systems modelling including use of tools such as such as LEAP.
• Good writing and communication skills.
• Demonstrated team-player with the ability to work independently.
• Our working language is English, therefore excellent English writing and verbal skills are necessary
• You must be eligible to obtain the rights to work in Australia.

Desirable criteria
• Experience working with developing countries.
• Experience working with China.
• Knowledge and experience in climate change and energy policy in the Australia and Asia-Pacific country context.
