Job Description

Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Compliance Project Manager in Portland, OR, to oversee compliance for renewable energy projects from pre-construction to early operations. Responsibilities include managing compliance monitoring, coordinating with agencies, and overseeing restoration activities. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 3–5 years of experience. The role involves a mix of fieldwork, office tasks, and remote work, with potential travel to project sites.
Tetra Tech is adding a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Compliance Project Manager to join our expanding renewable energy compliance and site restoration team. This team supports upland and riparian revegetation, environmental compliance monitoring, and restoration science activities for renewable energy projects.

In this role, you will manage environmental compliance projects from pre-construction through construction and into early-stage operations, ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements and environmental standards.

Project Management & Compliance
• Manage environmental compliance for utility-scale renewable energy projects from pre-construction through construction
• Oversee compliance monitoring activities and ensure adherence to permit conditions and environmental requirements
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, and multidisciplinary teams

Field Oversight & Restoration
• Monitor site conditions and oversee revegetation and restoration contractors
• Support and monitor upland and riparian restoration activities
• Ensure field activities align with environmental commitments and compliance plans

Coordination & Communication
• Communicate effectively with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and construction teams
• Support public outreach efforts and understand state and local land use requirements
• Provide technical deliverables and project updates

Professional Practice & Safety
• Maintain awareness of evolving environmental regulations and best practices
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
• Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns
• Additional duties as required

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Restoration Ecology, Soils, or related field (preferred)
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance, construction monitoring, or restoration
• Experience in renewable energy, oil & gas, or transmission projects preferred
• Knowledge of restoration ecology and environmental compliance during construction
• Experience with project management and coordination of field teams
• Understanding of permitting processes and regulatory requirements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions

Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain and stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry field equipment (up to approximately 25–30 lbs)
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods when completing reports

Work Environment / Environmental Factors
• Combination of field, office, and remote work environments
• Regular exposure to construction sites and active project locations
• Travel may be required to project sites
• Work may involve exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, wind, and dust

Compensation

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $110,000 - $170,000 annually
