Job Purpose

We're looking for a talented Environmental and Sustainability Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our sustainability team, you'll play a crucial role in leading our site's environmental and sustainability agenda. This includes reducing environmental impacts, developing an understanding of our safety and environmental program, and ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.

Main Responsibilities
• Lead the site's environmental and sustainability agenda, serving as the Environmental Pillar champion in our manufacturing system.
• Reduce environmental impacts in areas such as water and energy consumption, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, SOX & CO2 emissions, and COD.
• Develop an understanding of our Safety and Environmental program and lead its deployment across the site.
• Monitor legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local and national regulatory requirements and our standards.
• Develop a thorough understanding of our Process Safety Management program, become certified as the site Process Safety Competent Person, and support its deployment.
• Responsible for building, implementing, organizing, and facilitating the usage of our Process Safety information system for the Ammonia and Combustible Dust system, as required by our SHE PSM Program Manual.
• Initiate and lead monthly PSM committee meetings involving managers and team members, including the Factory Director, Maintenance Manager, Safety Manager, Refrigeration team members, and production management personnel.
• Develop site reports for EIQ, WWTP PCR.
• Track the status of compliance audits, mechanical integrity hazard analyses, incident investigation, and other SHE-generated action items and recommendations.
• Influence senior management and drive safety and environmental leadership through line management.
• Determine training needs and assist in delivering training programs.
• Maintain expertise in ammonia operation and successfully complete Ammonia Operator I, II within two years of taking the position.

Requirements
• A university degree is preferred, with an emphasis in engineering or safety program administration.
• Experience with spreadsheets and ability to learn basic Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and developing templates.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand priorities and make appropriate calls to SHE and Engineering Services.
• Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information, strong observation, attention to detail, and auditing skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with CCOHS, CEPA, and SHE standards is essential, while knowledge of manufacturing and Process Safety is desirable.
• Proven analytical thinking and project management skills.
• Documented experience in operation and maintenance of PSM-covered combustible dust and/or refrigeration systems is preferred.
