Environmental Analyst

ERT is seeking an Environmental Analyst (NEPA Specialist) in Silver Spring, MD, to support NOAA Fisheries' NEPA Program. Job Summary

The NEPA Specialist will support the NOAA Fisheries NEPA Program in developing and coordinating NEPA documentation, analysis, and policy procedures. This position involves internal document reviews, meetings with General Counsel and Program staff, and coordination with NMFS regional and science center staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct and facilitate internal NEPA document reviews, meetings with General Counsel and Program staff, and meetings with NMFS regional and science center staff on specific actions.
• Review documents to determine if the correct level of NEPA analysis is being conducted and provide technical and programmatic comments on the documents.
• Provide NEPA policy and procedural advice and guidance to NMFS and NOAA Headquarters program offices.
• Support efforts to revise and update NOAA and Fisheries NEPA procedures and other Fisheries policies.
• Maintain a database of NEPA actions under development and review.

Requirements
• 7 years of specialized experience directly related to the position.
• Experience with federal agency NEPA implementation for operational or research programs and activities in the coastal and marine environment.
• Familiarity with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act and other applicable environmental laws.
• Ability to work independently, reliably, self-motivated, and with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle special assignments under compressed deadlines.
