Job Description
Alliance Technical Group is seeking a full-time Environmental Ambient Air Monitoring Field Technician for a 6-month contract in Mississauga, ON. The role involves supporting ambient air monitoring programs, data analysis, and regulatory compliance. Candidates should have a relevant degree and strong analytical skills. The position includes a mix of remote and in-office work, with mentorship from senior staff. Ideal candidates will be located near the Greater Toronto Area.

Alliance has been providing air and water quality consulting, testing and monitoring services to industrial and manufacturing sectors for over 40 years.
Alliance is looking for a qualified individual interested and ready for a rewarding challenge to enhance its environmental compliance and permitting team. This full‐time contract (6 months) junior or intermediate level position requires a flexible team player with good communication skills, works equally well independently and as part of team and who enjoys the challenges of collection, analysis and reporting of environmental data.
This opportunity strikes a healthy balance between data interpretation and reporting. This job will include a blend of remote and in‐office work. Ideally the candidate will be located in the Greater Toronto Area in reasonable proximity to the main ORTECH office in Mississauga, ON. This opportunity will come with direct mentoring by a senior level engineer or scientist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities:
• Provide field operations support primarily for ambient air monitoring programs
• Organize and interpret data from ambient air monitoring sites;
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Calculate airborne emissions from a variety of industrial based activities using engineering calculations, best practices or published emission factors;
• Prepare air‐emission inventories;
• Perform computer based air dispersion modelling (AERMOD, ASHRAE, SCREEN3, etc) and compare results to provincial legislation;
• Prepare air quality permit applications and evaluate regulatory compliance;
• Review air quality aspects of environmental assessments;
• Plan and coordinate technical and administrative aspects of assigned projects;
• Communicate (written and verbal) with regulatory agencies, clients, and other stakeholders;
• Write technical reports to present the methods, results and recommendations;
• Manage data/information and track issues;
• Facilitate the acquisition of data ensuring QA/QC procedures are followed;
• Work to strict schedules and project milestones while delivering high quality results; and
• Follow Alliance and client specific health, safety and other policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science (chemistry, meteorology, physics) or engineering science (Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering) or related field (Post Secondary degree in related field as a minimum);
• Excellent computer and analytical skills (use of MS Office suite and other database tools);
• Strong aptitude for problem solving and proven ability to meet deadlines;
• Equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team;
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
• Attention for detail to ensure a high degree of quality assurance and quality control; and
• A valid driver’s license with a good driving record as position may require some travel.
Additional Qualifications / Attributes that are Highly Desirable:
• Experience and knowledge in conducting air quality assessments;
• Knowledge of the Ontario (and Canadian) Environment Protection Act and related air quality regulations;
• Understanding of other relevant Ontario legislations and policies an asset;
• Familiarity with industrial and manufacturing processes;
• Knowledge of air dispersion modeling, emission inventories, environmental permitting an asset;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Motivated;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team; and
• Strong organizational and people skills.

Pay: $58,000.00-$72,000.00 per year
Schedule:
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends
