Scenic Hudson Inc. is seeking an Environmental Advocate (Hybrid) in Poughkeepsie, NY. Position Title: Environmental Advocate (Hybrid)

Reporting to: Director of Environmental Advocacy, Government Relations & Public Policy

Location: Poughkeepsie, NY

Mission of Position: The Environmental Advocacy Manager will collaborate with a team of attorneys, policy analysts, land use planners and others advancing environmental campaign goals. The Environmental Advocacy Manager will advance Scenic Hudsons mission through a combination of advocacy, public education and consensus building. Current major campaigns include stopping fossil fuel infrastructure, working to transition the Hudson Valley to a renewable energy future, and securing cleanup and restoration of the Hudson River Superfund site.

Responsibilities include:
• Lead Scenic Hudson advocacy campaigns on renewable energy and environmental protection issues
• Represent Scenic Hudson in public coalition meetings, hearings, and panel presentations
• Maintain contact with other environmental and community organizations and appropriate federal, state, and local officials on specific projects
• Build organizational and public support for advocacy initiatives
• Support Scenic Hudsons Advocacy Team, including public policy and land use advocacy initiatives Review and analyze federal, state, and local environmental and energy policies
• Review and draft comments on administrative matters, including proposed rulemakings and permit applications
• Monitor Environmental Notice Bulletin and Federal and State Registers for relevant updates
• Occasional travel within the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Albany as needed.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree required, advanced degree preferred (Masters or JD)
• Minimum of three years of experience working in environmental advocacy or a related field
• Knowledge of environmental issues, including clean energy, conservation and sustainable agriculture
• Exceptional research, writing and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a coalition settings and with a broad variety of stakeholders
• Strong teamwork and cross-organizational collaboration skills. Commitment to Scenic Hudsons mission and environmental justice
• Self-starter with excellent time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and shifting priorities. Strong creative problem solving skills

Compensation: Full Time, with competitive benefits and a salary range of: $65,000 to $ 73,000
