JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of an Environmental Advisor.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Environment Health and Safety, this position is responsible to develop, implement, and continuously improve OPG's Environmental Management System (EMS). Provide expert guidance and oversight on environmental programs, monitor and report on environmental performance, address issues, and support Generating Units and Functions by interpretating and advising on legislation and polices. Foster effective relationships with regulatory agencies and manage Environmental Assessments, environmental approvals, and permits.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Monitor, report, and analyze environmental performance and compliance for generating units, providing regular updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide expert advice and support on environmental legislation, policies, compliance issues, and regulatory approvals including Environmental Assessments.
• Liaise and negotiate with regulatory agencies to obtain permits, influence regulatory conditions, and ensure compliance with provincial and federal environmental regulations.
• Prepare, analyze, and interpret environmental compliance reports for regulatory agencies, and internal performance reports; establish, maintain, and utilize environmental data and reporting systems.
• Conduct and coordinate technical and analytical studies on environmental issues, participate in project planning and execution, and define training needs for environmental awareness.

QUALIFICATIONS
• A four-year university degree in the appropriate field of engineering or science.
