Job Description
RTI International seeks an Environment, Health, and Safety Specialist Intern to support their EHS team. Responsibilities include managing safety data sheets, chemical safety, hazardous waste management, and inspections. The role offers a hybrid work model, allowing for both on-site work at the RTP Campus and remote work. Candidates should be recent graduates or current students in relevant fields, with knowledge of chemistry and safety practices.

About the Hiring Group
The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) group is a team of scientists and professionals responsible for promoting a safe work environment and managing programs to improve the health and safety of employees at RTI. EHS is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance in the areas of workplace safety, laboratory safety, radiation safety, and environmental.
What You'll Do
The intern will provide support to the EHS team in SDS management, chemical safety and management, hazardous waste management, inspections, program document support, along with other EHS needs. This is a hybrid role that requires partial time at the RTP Campus and the opportunity to work remotely.
• SDS review/finalization in new SDS management system
• Laboratory chemical inventory assistance
• Laboratory chemical waste management assistance
• Assist with inspections
• Review/update SOPs and other EHS documents
What You'll Need
Must be a recent degree recipient and/or currently enrolled undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or graduate student, who studied or is studying one of the following fields.
• Chemistry, environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, chemical engineering.
• Demonstrated knowledge or familiarity in chemistry, hazardous waste, safety science.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. The ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Clean driving record and ability to drive a company vehicle, if required.

Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
