Environment, health and safety specialist

Medline Industries, Inc. seeks an Environment, Health and Safety Specialist in Oude IJsselstreek, Netherlands. Responsibilities include overseeing EHS programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting audits, and managing risk assessments. The role requires a degree in EHS or related field, 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, and proficiency in EHS regulations. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. This is a full-time position with a salary range of €40K–€60K.

Purpose

The EHS Specialist oversees and leads the health & environment safety programs with the aim of ensuring the site's compliance with regulatory requirements and those of the Medline group, as well as ensuring the sustainability of certifications. It also participates in projects for the health, safety, environment and safety component at Varsseveld and Zutphen sites.

Activities and responsibilities
• Coordination of suppliers & service providers on site, ensuring standards and regulations are met.
• Carry out “waste audits” to control the environmental impact of Varsseveld and Zutphen operation.
• Contribute actively to the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies.
• Schedule and conduct audits to ensure compliance with site requirements and relevant regulations.
• Lead the identification, documentation, analysis, & assessment of risks related to site activities.
• Monitor and update the Document Valuations of Risk (DVR) and any reports required by Dutch law.
• Care of regulatory watch on EHS subjects.
• Implement and maintain EHS certifications.
• Monitor and maintain the manufacturing/ warehouse's equipment and infrastructure, monitor maintenance actions in partnership with the maintenance technician and suppliers.
• Organize, plan and coordinate SHE related maintenance work for both locations.
• Participate in and lead safety and environmental improvement projects.
• Manage the emergency response organization.
• Manage PEST control for both locations.

Job requirements
• Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or related field (e.g. Integrale veiligheidskunde) with at least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Mastery of EHS regulations or IOSH qualified.
• Having knowledge and a practice of the ISO norms (14001 or 45001).
• Being a certified internal auditor is a plus.
• Capability to drive results and work independently.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to successfully build collaborative working relationships, and influence across various levels in the organization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven experience to influence and motivate.
• Proficiency in common office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
