SAVI EHS is seeking an experienced Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager for a heavy civil construction project at an active mining site in Mountain Iron, MN. This full-time, seasonal role from May to November 2025 involves ensuring safety compliance, conducting inspections, and training personnel. Candidates should have 5+ years of EHS experience and relevant certifications. Compensation is $40–$45/hour with a per diem of $1,000/week.

Position Overview

We are actively seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to support a heavy civil construction project at an active mining site. This is a field-based, seasonal role running from May through November 2025. The ideal candidate will bring strong heavy civil or mining experience and hold (or be willing to obtain) MSHA Part 46 and/or 48 certification.

As the EHS Manager, you will play a critical role in promoting, implementing, and maintaining a strong safety culture on-site. You’ll work closely with the Construction Manager, subcontractors, client representatives, and field personnel to ensure all safety protocols and regulatory requirements are upheld.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and enforce all EHS compliance efforts across the project site
• Conduct daily safety inspections and detailed site audits
• Deliver onboarding orientations and ongoing EHS training to personnel
• Ensure safety compliance for heavy equipment operations and mining activities
• Facilitate Daily Hazard Analysis (DHA) meetings and regular toolbox talks
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
• Verify all contractors and workers are trained and adhering to site-specific safety procedures
• Analyze safety performance data and report trends to senior leadership
• Review and help develop project-specific safety plans and risk mitigation strategies
• Act as primary liaison to the client’s safety and risk management team
• Maintain all required documentation in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations
• Support a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and recognition programs

Preferred Qualifications
• 5+ years of EHS experience in construction, mining, or heavy civil environments
• MSHA Part 46 and/or 48 certification strongly preferred (or ability to obtain pre-start)
• OSHA certifications such as OSHA 30, 510, 500, or professional credentials like CHST, CSP, or STSC
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations
• Strong leadership skills with a proactive, prevention-focused mindset
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management/reporting software
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred
