Job Description
The Brisbane City Council is seeking a casual Environment Centre Officer to manage environment centre programs and deliver engaging environmental learning activities. The role requires knowledge of ecology, strong customer service skills, and the ability to engage with diverse audiences. The position involves flexible hours and is based at various Environment Centres in Brisbane, including Boondall Wetlands and Karawatha Forest.

Salary Range: AUD $76,297.00 – $81,262.00 per annum (Remuneration stated is for full-time positions)
Hourly Rate: $40.47 per hour plus 25% casual loading
Work type: Casual ongoing
Location: Boondall Wetlands, Karawatha Forest, Downfall Creek

NEWS plays an important role in managing Brisbane's natural environment, open spaces, parklands, and waterways that help define our subtropical lifestyle. NEWS is a diverse group of planners, engineers, scientists, project managers, communication and engagement specialists and support people.
The Role
As an Environment Centre Officer, you will play an important role in the delivery of environment centre programs and the day-to-day management of the Environment Centres.
You will be responsible for delivering environmental learning programs in an engaging way and assist in the development of these programs and resources that are tailored to a wide range of age groups. You will showcase excellent customer service skills that can be easily adapted to a wide range of audiences and be a helpful point of call to customers visiting the Environment Centre.
This role is ongoing casual rostered work, with shifts (up to 7.25hr daily) available on the weekend or during the week at any of the Environment Centres.
To be successful in the role you will have:
• knowledge of environmental learning and applied delivery of environmental based activities incorporating curricula and non curricula outcomes to a range of audiences
• applied knowledge in the identification and assessment of native and exotic flora, fauna and habitats with the ability to interpret their natural history, ecological functions and processes
• demonstrated ability to confidently deliver community engagement activities and events and support volunteers
• demonstrated strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• demonstrated organisational and time management skills
• a valid Working Safety with Children Check
