Rodeo FX is seeking a Senior Environment Artist for a temporary contract in Paris, France. The role involves creating immersive, photorealistic environments for films and commercials, requiring expertise in modeling, texturing, shading, and lighting. The artist will collaborate with supervisors and other departments to meet project standards and deadlines, while also mentoring junior artists and staying updated on industry techniques.

Job Description
The Environment Artist at Rodeo FX plays a crucial role in creating immersive and photorealistic environments for films, television, and commercials. The artist will work closely with the CG and Environment Supervisors to produce high-quality environments that meet the studio's standards. This role requires a strong understanding of modeling, texturing, shading, set dressing and lighting, as well as proficiency in a range of 3D software.
The artist must be able to collaborate effectively with other departments and manage technical and creative challenges while meeting tight deadlines.
Key Accountabilities:
Master Your Craft
• Deliver detailed and realistic environments for a wide range of projects, including natural and man-made environments.
• Demonstrate proficiency in modeling, texturing, shading, set dressing and lighting to create high-quality 3D scenes that meet project requirements.
Creative Quality
• Create visually compelling environments that align with the creative direction and enhance the overall visual storytelling.
• Continuously refine environment assets based on feedback and push creative boundaries to improve the final result.
Technical Quality
• Ensure environments are technically optimized for rendering, using best practices in modeling, lighting, and shading.
• Collaborate with Layout, FX, and lighting teams to ensure the environment functions properly within the production pipeline.
Communications
• Collaborate effectively with the CG Supervisor, Environment Supervisor, and other team members to solve creative and technical challenges.
• Keep leads and production teams informed about progress, potential bottlenecks, and any required adjustments.
Teach, Learn, and Grow
• Share knowledge with junior artists and contribute to team learning sessions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest tools, techniques, and technologies in environment creation and continuously enhance your skillset.
Qualifications
• Experience in a similar position within the VFX industry.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following software: Houdini / Solaris, Maya, with solid skills in modeling, texturing, set dressing and lighting.
• Proficiency in using Substance Painter, and Arnold for texturing and rendering.
• Proven ability to create both natural and man-made environments, with an understanding of geography, architecture, and ecology.
• Experience in optimizing scenes for rendering and memory efficiency across a variety of conditions.
• Strong prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work well within a team.
Additional Information
• 5-months renewable CDDU (fixed-term contract).
• On-site position at our studio, located 5 minutes from Gare de l'Est.
