Job Description
Hazen and Sawyer is hiring an Entry-Level Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling Engineer for their Atlanta, GA office. The role involves supporting the Conveyance Practice Group with hydraulic modeling for wastewater and water distribution systems. Candidates should have a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, knowledge of hydraulic principles, and a desire to learn modeling software. Responsibilities include developing and calibrating hydraulic models, assisting in master planning, and conducting fieldwork. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential.
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an enthusiastic engineer with an academic or professional background in hydraulic modeling related to wastewater conveyance and water distribution systems to support the Conveyance Practice Group in the Atlanta, GA office. This opportunity involves working with a growing team of hydraulic modelers on a variety of projects locally, regionally, and nationwide.
Candidate should have knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic principles and analyses, as well as experience with or a strong desire to learn hydraulic modeling software. Responsibilities will include developing and calibrating hydraulic models for both water and sewer systems and analyzing model results to develop recommendations for our clients. Candidate will also assist on master planning and design projects within the Conveyance Practice Group.
Minimum professional qualifications:
• BS degree in Civil/Environmental engineering and the ability to achieve EIT or PE licensure.
• 0 – 5 years of experience in water resources engineering, with a focus on hydraulic modeling
• Ability to easily move around in the field as needed to install, operate, and maintain hydraulic measurement equipment
• Ability to work with a team or independently
• Ability to travel locally with potential for periodic overnight travel regionally.
• Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
Preferred professional qualifications:
• Knowledge of hydraulic modeling platforms such as Infoworks ICM, InfoWater Pro, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, PCSWMMM, etc.
• Geospatial analysis skills using ArcGIS Pro and other Esri products
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, R), SQL, etc.
• EI/EIT Certification
• Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree
