The Entry Level Field Scientist position is designed for individuals eager to learn and engage in a variety of fieldwork related to the AME/EFS service areas. The work is conducted under the guidance of experienced technical personnel and is supervised by the Field Operations Manager, ensuring that new hires receive the support they need to succeed. In this position, employees will be responsible for performing task-oriented work with clear instructions. Safety is a paramount concern, and candidates will be expected to understand and apply safety considerations for all projects. The role involves learning and assisting with various tasks, including groundwater sampling using different techniques such as low-flow, grab, peristaltic, and bailer methods. Additionally, employees will participate in monitoring well installations, vapor intrusion studies, and sampling for asbestos-containing materials (ACM). The position also includes responsibilities for sample collection related to soil, groundwater, and vapor, as well as stormwater sampling and conducting Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. Candidates will need to verify that public and private utility locates are completed and appropriately marked before commencing any work. Other essential functions include setting up jobs, completing load lists, and performing on-site work, as well as assisting with subcontractor management and health & safety oversight. Routine maintenance of equipment and vehicles is also part of the job, along with identifying potential sources of contamination at job sites. Employees will provide labor support to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Remedial Construction as needed, and may also support renewable energy projects and perform general contractor oversight of small-scale projects.
