About the Role

As an Engineer – Distributed Energy & Grid Integration, you’ll work on the implementation, performance, and optimisation of DER assets including solar, battery energy storage, and demand response technologies.

This is a hands-on role supporting grid connection and system integration across both new and existing infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with project teams, utilities, and regulatory stakeholders, using modelling and technical analysis to shape energy systems that are smarter, cleaner, and more reliable.

Key Responsibilities
• Support DER design, performance optimisation, and integration into grid-connected and microgrid applications
• Conduct network impact assessments, modelling, and feasibility studies for new DER connections
• Analyse system performance and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency
• Develop specifications, connection documentation, and technical reports
• Contribute to project planning and commissioning activities
• Liaise with internal teams, developers, and network businesses to support project delivery
• Stay abreast of emerging DER technologies, policy changes, and grid codes
• Assist with regulatory compliance and ensure alignment with technical standards
• Support cross-functional engineering teams working across renewable and distributed energy portfolios
Skills & Experience
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or Renewable Energy
• 3–5 years' experience working with DER assets (solar PV, battery storage, smart inverters)
• Understanding of NEM frameworks, AEMO requirements, and grid connection processes
• Proficiency in simulation/modelling tools (e.g. PowerFactory, PSCAD, MATLAB)
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Practical knowledge of connection standards and regulatory compliance
