Job Summary

The Energy Futures Research Engine and the Energy and Geoscience
Institute at the University of Utah are seeking a program manager
to lead energy training initiatives associated with multiple funded
programs. The program manager will primarily lead workforce
development initiatives associated with the Environmental
Protection Agency's (EPA) Solar for All Program, which has an
overarching objective to deploy solar photovoltaic installations at
the community and rooftop residential scale. The program manager
will develop and implement training programs for rising energy
engineers, technicians, installers, and other solar industry jobs.
These training programs will be made available at multiple tiers in
the education system including university, technical college, and
potentially high school levels. The program manager will also
develop a strategic plan for the workforce component of the Solar
for All Program, and lead focus groups and convenings. Depending on
qualifications, the program manager may directly contribute to the
development of technical content, teaching, and hands-on training
within this program. Alternative tasks may include planning,
promoting, and administering outsourced technical training
programs, such as those available from the Association of Energy
Engineers (AEE), the North American Board of Certified Energy
Practitioners (NABCEP), or others.

In addition to the Solar for All program, the coordinator will help
administer other programs at the University of Utah, including
those sponsored by the EPA, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE),
the State of Utah, and other agencies. The program manager will
help market multiple technical assistance programs and conduct
outreach to the community to raise awareness and ensure
participation in these programs. They will manage various aspects
of these projects, track performance, and ensure that contractual
deliverables are being met.

Depending on qualifications and interest, the program manager may
be asked to make technical contributions focused on energy and
environmental analysis, evaluating the economics of potential
projects, teaching technical, energy-related content, and leading
hands-on training of a student energy workforce. The position is
contingent on grant funding.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Workforce Development Project Lead for the State of
Utah's Solar for All program

• Create and execute a workforce development plan for solar energy
deployment in Utah

• Administer technical, energy-focused trainings for students at
various grade levels from high school through university
level

• Administer programs funded from federal and state agencies
including: tracking all project objectives, ensuring that
deliverables are met in a timely manner, meeting all reporting
requirements, etc.

• Support outreach to prospective clients / users of technical
assistance programs

• Potentially teach technical content to students

• Potentially lead energy analysis projects including onsite energy
assessments

• Contribute to ongoing grant and funding development on energy and
sustainability-related programs

Minimum Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent in the fields
of business, energy, engineering, or other STEM discipline is
preferred.

• Experience in the solar energy and/or energy efficiency fields is
required.

• Program / project management experience or credentials are
desirable.

• Energy efficiency and/or solar energy-related certifications such
as those available from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
or the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners
(NABCEP) are desirable, but may be made available to the candidate
after hiring.

• Strong interpersonal communication skills including technical
writing, small-team leadership, technical presentation, etc.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals with
a variety of backgrounds and expertise.

Work Schedule Summary: Schedule / In-Office Requirements:·
The position is somewhat flexible with options available for 30
hours / week up to full-time.· Considerations may be made for
well-qualified candidates desiring to work less than 30 hours /
week.· The office is generally open during normal business hours,
Mon. - Fri. Occasional remote work is possible. The position may
require infrequent work on weekends or after business hours.· The
position may require a willingness and ability to work flexibly and
on short notice to meet tight grant deadlines.Some travel may be
required including to trainings, site visits, and professional
development and/or networking conferences.
