NES Fircroft Philippines is seeking an Energy Transition Expert (Consultant) for a part-time remote role in Manila. The expert will focus on low-carbon transition initiatives, working with governments and stakeholders. Responsibilities include project management, stakeholder engagement, and providing technical insights in energy transition and sustainable finance. Strong communication and project delivery skills are essential, along with a network in the NGO or government sectors.

About the role

This exciting role will work as an Energy Transition Expert (Consultant) for our client that will expand its low carbon transition work in the Philippines. We are looking for an expert with experience in energy transition, sustainable finance and policy to work with its global experts to scale-up its work with national and sub-national governments, multilateral donors, philanthropies and wider energy sector stakeholders.


The Client is a global leader on advancing low-carbon policies, programmes, finance and technology for nearly 25 years. Its work in the Philippines has been focused on scaling up low-carbon initiatives specifically focusing on coal transition, offshore wind, energy efficiency, policy and financial interventions funded by bilateral and multilateral donors (e.g. UK FCDO and ADB) and philanthropic foundations. The expert with suitable experience will be expected to manage the relationship with its clients and beneficiaries within the Philippines while also delivering tasks supporting successful delivery of projects.


The external consultant should be an experienced and motivated individual with strong networks with NGO or other government units, project management and consulting skills. The role focuses primarily on project management coordination and local market support rather than direct project delivery. This includes attending external meetings and representing the organization.


Main duties and Responsibilities



Assist in the delivery of projects of varying complexity, from inception through to completion, including:
Manage in country stakeholder engagement with beneficiaries including organising meetings, workshops and preparation of meeting reports
Leading the problem-solving effort and offer local insights
Supporting the project managers from Singapore office through research and analysis
Assess project risks and support the project manager to develop mitigation measures.
Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and assess suitable solutions for continued work.
Provide support to the Carbon Trust contact person and effectively attend client meetings, conferences, workshops and trade shows.

Key skills and competencies



Provide technical input and insights to support ongoing project work
Considerable knowledge in the low-carbon development sector topics such as energy transition, renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable finance and industrial decarbonisation.
Proven ability in delivering projects across a range of private, public and/or philanthropy clients.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build client and partner relationships and influence stakeholders.
Proven ability to work with small teams and in delivering high quality consulting projects.
Excellent strategic problem-solving skills and solution development.
Excellent communication skills in English and Filipino (written and oral), with the ability to lead and run workshop sessions, present to audiences and write high quality reports.
Ability to work effectively in a complex team environment and to take initiative and deliver projects independently when required.
Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
Organised and efficient.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Qualifications



Master’s degree educated in a relevant field.
Strong networks within NGOs or government institutions.
Proven track record in leading strategic consulting projects in the low-carbon energy sector.
Must demonstrate strong expertise in low‑carbon development–related topics.
Experience of building and managing government and client relationships.
Experience/knowledge of energy policy, technology and finance.
