Job Description

UMass Amherst seeks an Energy Transition Expert to lead the Clean Energy Extension (CEE) in supporting clean energy initiatives. The Director will oversee staff, manage grants, and foster collaborations with stakeholders to advance CEE's mission. Candidates should have a graduate degree in a related field and 7-10 years of relevant experience. This is a full-time position located in Amherst, MA.

Job Description

The Director of CEE will lead the organization's efforts to support its mission, maintain its financial stability, and enhance its value to the Commonwealth and university. This includes developing new collaborations, supervising CEE staff, overseeing grant administration, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of CEE.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Commonwealth's clean energy and climate policies and programs, and identify opportunities for CEE to contribute to these efforts.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, municipalities, NGOs, and community-based organizations, to advance CEE's mission and goals.
• Manage CEE staff, including reviewing and strengthening CEE staff management and organizational structure, enhancing opportunities for collaboration and professional development, and assessing CEE's funding, staffing, and workloads.

Qualifications and Requirements

The successful candidate will hold a graduate degree in a field related to clean energy, such as renewable energy, engineering, resource economics, or public policy. They will have 7-10 years of experience in the clean energy field, with a strong track record of conducting research, consulting, engineering, project development, finance, policy development and regulation, regional planning, or similar contributions. Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including academia, government agencies, municipal planning organizations, NGOs, community-based organizations, and clean energy experts, is highly valued.
