Job Summary

We are currently hiring for an Energy Technician. We are looking for motivated individuals with a technical background in maintenance and electrical equipment who are ready to help us build our generating future!
In this role you will be responsible for helping maintain Alliant Energy Owned Solar and Battery Storage sites. The position is located at our Cedar Ridge Operations Center in Eden, WI.
You'll be performing routine inspections and maintenance on solar panels, racking systems, inverters, wiring, and controls. Site facility inspection and maintenance is also an important part of the job and includes: fencing, buildings, gates, roads, culverts, and signs.
You will also assist troubleshooting of equipment issues, site vegetation management, snow removal, and site tours. Maintaining records of maintenance activities and tests is a key part of the position.
What you will do
• Performs inspections and minor repairs on Solar and Energy/Battery installations throughout the Alliant Energy (WPL) footprint.
• Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning necessary to maintain the site in a clean and neat condition.
• Performs inspections on solar panels, racking, inverters, wiring and controls.
• Perform inspection of site facilities including but not limited to buildings, fencing, gates, roads, culverts, and on-site storage containers.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities of solar and battery facilities including both electrical and mechanical systems.
• The minor repairs include but are not limited to replacement of damaged solar panels, replacement of batteries, replacement of lighting equipment, fence repair, re-rocking of sites, minor inverter repairs, racking repairs, equipment touch-up painting, and proper site signage.
Education Requirements
• High School Diploma Required
Preferred Experience
• Vocational/Technical School Training a plus.
• 0-2 years of industrial field experience in the solar or batter industry.
Other Requirements
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Employees in this job classification are covered by the Residency Policy and will be required to live within 60 minutes of their headquarters.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Basic knowledge of electricity, the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), and Alliant Services Standards.
• Ability to read and comprehend Right-To-Know information.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E, and 70B.
• Proficiency reading technical specification documents, site plans, and electric schematics.
• Good communication skills. Demonstrated ability to coordinate work and work with others.
• General computer, network, and technology proficiency.
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
• Knowledge of company safety rules and practices.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
• Must be willing long overtime hours to maintain continuity of service as emergencies may require.
• Basic knowledge of electric utility systems operation, maintenance and construction practices.
• Knowledge of solar and battery storage equipment.

Pay Range:
$31.19 - $35.67
