Job Description

Meta is seeking an Energy Strategy Manager - Wholesale in Providence, RI, to develop a global energy strategy for sustainable and cost-effective energy supply. The role requires expertise in wholesale electricity markets, negotiation of energy transactions, and collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders. Candidates should have a relevant degree and over 10 years of experience in energy project negotiation and management. Some domestic travel (10-25%) is required.

Join Meta as an Energy Strategy Manager - Wholesale and take an influential role in crafting our global energy strategy aimed at securing a cost-effective and sustainable energy supply portfolio. We seek a skilled professional with a strong track record in developing and executing wholesale portfolio strategies, leveraging your commercial, market, technical, and financial expertise in the electricity markets within the U.S. Your understanding of wholesale power market rules and regulations will be critical in furthering Meta's mission.

Responsibilities:
• Identify, structure, and negotiate new cost-competitive wholesale energy and capacity sources for Meta's operations, collaborating with our market-participating affiliate.
• Engage with internal teams including sustainability, legal, tax, and finance to implement effective supply solutions.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with essential suppliers, developers, regulators, and various stakeholders across U.S. energy markets.
• Contribute to state and federal regulatory processes, providing subject-matter expertise and industry insights to enhance energy supply reliability and cost-effectiveness for our new data centers.
• Shape and execute our wholesale supply strategy for both domestic and potential international data centers.
• Stay abreast of technical, market, and regulatory trends in the energy sector, communicating vital findings and risks to management.
• Collaborate on various energy projects, including feasibility assessments and negotiations for projects in the development phase.
• Support the ongoing development and execution of Meta's energy supply strategy for our data centers.
• Willingness to travel domestically (10-25% at times).

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in developing, acquiring, and negotiating utility-scale electricity supply projects.
• Proven expertise in negotiating wholesale capacity and energy transactions with market participants, utilities, or power marketers.
• Experience in financial modeling of energy projects, identifying risks, and overseeing due diligence processes (financial, commercial, technical, and development).
• Thorough understanding of market constructs, rules, and regulations affecting wholesale supply opportunities.
• Demonstrated ability to represent business interests to leadership teams of suppliers, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
• Knowledge of utility and grid interconnection, capacity accreditation, and wholesale electricity market transactions.
• Strong proficiency in leading negotiations and managing energy projects.
• Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex commercial, regulatory, and contractual information at all organizational levels.
• Adept at managing multiple projects in partnership with internal teams, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in standard document and analytics platforms (Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, etc.).

Compensation:

$202,000/year to $273,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.
