Job Description Summary: Join EPRI's innovative Energy Storage and Distributed Generation team, where we lead cutting-edge work in energy storage technology, economics, safety, testing, deployment, implementation, and operation. Our efforts support utilities, the industry, and the public by enhancing grid resilience, flexibility, safety, and affordability. As a Technical Leader, you will focus on battery energy storage and microgrids, including testing, data analysis, asset management, and safety. You will engage on energy storage technologies and systems with utility members, direct and lead projects, develop and perform performance tests, write about, and present results. Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders, including utilities, project developers, technology manufacturers, and industry organizations. Key Responsibilities And Requirements
• Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision.
• Conducts technical searches and analyzes information in support of the project team.
• Demonstrates responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives or problems where the relationships between cause and effect are difficult to establish and little or no precedence exists, and the use of creative and imaginative thinking is required.
• Applies technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

• Maintains familiarity with the progress and problems in various technical areas and support identification of gaps.
• Provides high-level engineering efforts to support requirements in development and design and provides guidance to junior staff.
• Provides input into configuration management and documentation for engineer related projects.
• Acts as technical specialist and/or project manager for projects or project tasks, providing oversight to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
• Has established relationships and continually develops new ones with primary advisors to a research area.
• Works alongside EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International to support business development and member/client needs.
• Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing on complex strategies and project results, expressing thoughts clearly and concisely to EPRI’s audience that includes subject matter experts, program members, advisors, and the public.
• Adjusts communication content and format to capture attention and meet the needs of the intended audience through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
• Regularly communicates and coordinates work activities within the team, across programs, and sectors.
• Organizes external and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of projects to be on schedule and within budget.
• Leads the planning and execution of complex project work within the technical department to meet member/client objectives; prepares and presents research reports.
• Leads research projects with significant member and stakeholder interface.
• Influences project teams in the various aspects of the technical work.
• Regularly interfaces and coordinates with national and international technical networks, such as technology vendors, manufacturers, consultants, industry and research organizations, and academia.
• Leads proposal efforts and new project work.
• Develops research or services opportunities of value to EPRI members that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities, which includes solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
Years of Experience: Preferred 5+ years of experience with energy storage design, commissioning, field work, operations and maintenance, and/or testing of new technologies.
The salary range for this position is $115,000 USD to $130,000 USD annually.
This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
