Job Description

Mortenson is hiring an experienced Project Manager I and II for their Energy Storage Group in Robbinsdale, MN. The role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to manage project quality and finances. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least six years of experience. Responsibilities include overseeing project budgets, vendor management, and customer relations. This position is not remote and requires on-site presence.
About the position

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager I and II in\nour Energy Storage Group with the ability to interact in a dynamic\nenvironment. The ideal candidate will be flexible, resourceful, proactive, and\nefficient, maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. They\nshould have the aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues, and\nopportunities, and the capability to creatively problem-solve and\ndevelop viable solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills,\nalong with attention to detail, are vital. The Project Manager will provide\noverall leadership direction, manage project quality and timeliness, mentor the\nproject team, and develop and enhance customer relationships by providing\nexcellent service.\n\nThis position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates\nto apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this\nrole is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

Responsibilities

Manage the overall financial health of projectsSupport and potentially lead EPC contract negotiations with customers, including assembly of technical exhibits, the scope of work, and project schedules to align with contract requirements.Leading vendor procurement and bid/award phase for all major subs and suppliers. Including RFP creation, vendor solicitation, technical scoping, risk analysis, budget alignment, and contract negotiations.Develop and maintain project financial projections and equipment projectionsDetermine and allocate project estimates into the financial systemDetermine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisionsProvide financial and billings to Accounting for timely paymentCreate monthly owner billingsOversee budget for and make selections of trade partners and suppliersHandle billings and contract management, including contract buyoutsProvide job assignments and manage career developmentApprove time cards for on-site team membersProvide ongoing feedback on work performanceAssist with the review of the owner agreementResolve site concerns for the owner or representativeProvide frequent interactions and service to build positive relationships and future work opportunitiesDetermine when to submit to the owner or on-site representativesObtain the customer/architect’s approvalRequirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experienceMinimum six years of related previous experienceProven ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projectsDetail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksPossess a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesMicrosoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelProven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesCurrent driver’s licenseBachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Electrical or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experienceMinimum seven years of construction management or related experience with large projectsProven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for complex projectsDetail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksPossess basic understanding of construction law and\ngenerally accepted business practicesMicrosoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelProven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skillsAbility to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesCurrent driver’s licenseTravelNice-to-haves
