Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Engineering

Pinchin is looking for an Energy Specialist to join our MEP Engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about energy conservation and sustainability to contribute to real-world building performance improvements across a variety of sectors.
About the Role:
As an Energy Specialist at Pinchin, you’ll be responsible for performing on-site energy audits, analyzing building performance, and recommending practical, cost-effective energy efficiency solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to support clients in reducing their energy consumption and achieving sustainability goals.
You Will Report To:
You will report to the Director of MEP in Ontario and collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and sustainability professionals across the national MEP team.
A Day in the life of an Energy Specialist at Pinchin:
• Conduct on-site energy audits for existing buildings and new design projects.
• Analyze historical energy usage data and identify inefficiencies in systems and operations.
• Use energy modeling software to simulate performance and assess the impact of upgrades.
• Develop practical, cost-effective solutions to improve energy performance.
• Prepare technical reports and energy conservation plans tailored to client needs.
• Advise on compliance with energy codes, green building standards, and utility incentives.
• Support clients in implementing recommendations, from design through execution.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies, regulations, and best practices in energy and sustainability.
What You Bring to the Pinchin Team:
• A diploma or degree in Energy Management, Sustainability, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Certification as an Energy Auditor (CEA, CEM) is considered a strong asset.
• 3+ years of experience conducting energy assessments and using modeling tools (e.g., IES, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, HOT2000).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in interpreting building drawings, utility data, and building systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A collaborative attitude and the ability to work independently when needed.
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites locally and across Ontario.
