Job Description
NMR Group, Inc. is hiring an Energy Program Evaluation Project Manager to oversee evaluations of energy-efficiency programs. The role involves managing projects, collaborating with teams, and conducting analyses. Candidates should have relevant experience and a degree in a related field. Preferred candidates are in the Boston area, but remote applicants are also considered. The salary ranges from the $90,000s to $100,000s, with benefits including an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
NMR was founded in 2001 with a mission of providing independent, high-quality evaluation and market assessment services to administrators and regulators of energy-efficiency and renewable energy programs.
NMR measures the impacts of energy-efficiency and renewable energy programs and provides strategic guidance for improving program design and delivery. We provide clients with research-based information and insights to help them focus program efforts based on prevailing market structures and conditions.
Position Overview
NMR is seeking candidates for an Energy Program Evaluation Project Manager position. We’re an employee-owned consulting firm specializing in the research and evaluation of energy-efficiency and clean-energy programs.

Compensation: The anticipated salary for this position ranges from the $90,000s to $100,000s, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a strong array of benefits, including an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, health, dental, disability, 401K, T passes for those who commute to our Somerville, MA, office via public transportation, paid parental leave, and three weeks of paid vacation in the first year of employment (up to six weeks after multiple years of employment). We prefer candidates located in the Boston area but will also consider candidates located elsewhere who can work remotely.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree plus eight years’ experience evaluating energy-efficiency programs or a Master’s degree plus five years’ experience evaluating energy-efficiency programs. We prefer candidates with degrees in engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, economics, sociology, or other social science.
Successful employees work collaboratively with other team members and require minimal oversight; they will have opportunities for advancement in this growing company and field.
Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
• Managing process and impact evaluations and market effect studies for utility and regulatory clients, from planning and budgeting to delivering the final study reports
• Overseeing other team members working on the same projects
• Communicating and collaborating with colleagues, partners and clients
• Developing and implementing data collection activities such as surveys, in-depth interviews, focus groups, and on-site or virtual verifications
• Designing statistical samples and performing tests of statistical significance
• Conducting analyses to estimate energy savings
• Writing clear, concise research summaries, memoranda, and reports
