The Facilities Services & Planning (FS&P) division plays a key role in helping Stanford Health Care accomplish this mission. With a fast-paced, tech-savvy and lean culture that focuses on goals, metrics and continuous improvement, FS&P provides non-clinical operational support to Stanford Health Care and other Stanford Medicine entities to ensure safe and successful non-clinical operations 24/7 and plan for the organization’s future facility needs.

The Sustainability Program Office (SPO) is dedicated to advancing SHC’s sustainability initiatives, advocating for practices that minimize our environmental impact and promote the health and well-being of our communities while striving to create a more sustainable future for all we serve.

The Energy Manager is responsible for coordinating, championing, monitoring, overseeing, planning, and reporting on all aspects of the SHC Energy Management Plan and sustainability goals. This role is responsible for directly managing energy efficiency projects, rebates applications and management, building optimization efforts, and supervision of carbon and energy data, metrics, and reporting. This is an anchoring for SPO, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Sustainability Programs.

• Preferably 10+ years of consistent and relevant experience with managerial experience mandatory.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices, with the ability to utilize this knowledge for decision-making and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
• High comfort developing and maintaining energy management plans, and implementing projects under it. Ability to conceptualize and oversee projects from inception to completion.
• Effective communication skills to convey complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A background in sustainability is helpful but background in facilities management is necessary. Possible backgrounds include:
Systems Engineering, Facility Engineering, Civil Engineering, Facility Management, Building Management Systems, Project Management within Energy, and Energy Engineering.
• This is a hybrid position, with the main office in Menlo Park, CA. Career growth opportunities available within a dynamic team embedded in the largest operational department.

This is not an analyst/staring position. The role reports to Executive Director, reporting into Senior Vice President of Facilities, Planning, Design and Construction.

A Brief Overview
This enterprise-wide position, within the Sustainability Program Office (SPO), is responsible for contributing to and executing on the multi-year energy, emissions, and water strategy. The Energy Manager partners with Facilities Systems Engineering in the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals while prioritizing energy conservation and reduction of combustion sources.

Performs energy and water efficiency studies using best practice techniques. Reports on findings and provides recommendations through cross-functional advocacy.
